High Schoolers – Let’s Go Ice Skating!

High schoolers, we haven’t hung out in A LONG TIME.  It’s time to get out and connect face to face, and what better way to do this than to go ice skating.  Join us February 13 at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids for a morning of fun.  The price to skate is $1.00 for anyone under 18, $3.00 for adults and this includes skate rental, so you can’t pass it up.  No experience is necessary, they have stabilizer bars if you need some extra help.   We will leave campus at 9:45 and be back at 12:30. Please sign up using this link so we can get an accurate head count.  Please indicate on the sign up if you need transportation or will be meeting us there.  Families are welcome!

This session’s attribute is Respect. Respect means a feeling of deep admiration for someone elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements or due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights or traditions of others. What this looks like for you as an individual means that you are putting your best foot forward, trying hard, making commitments and keeping them. What it means for you with other people is very simple: Be Kind. Respect is something that you give and something that you earn all at the same time. This month, try to make an intentional effort to put kindness first, even when it’s hard. Put your best foot forward, think of others’ feelings, and challenge yourself to give out the type of respect you would like others to give you. Kindness goes a long way.

This week, try this activity at home together to further explore the attribute of Respect:

What is a way that you and your family members can show respect to one another or to someone else? Take a picture that demonstrates what respect means to your family!
What should you do with the picture?

  1. Post the picture to social media with the hashtags #icademyvirtual #respect
    AND/OR
  2. Send the picture to your mentor in Zoom!
