TULIP TIME PARADE – PARTICIPANTS WANTED – JOIN US, PLEASE!

There is a super fun opportunity coming our way to represent IES and who we are to the community of Holland, the surrounding area, and visitors.

On May 12th Tulip Time holds a parade to showcase kids and schools from around the community. This parade is called a Kinderparade. As Innocademy, iCademy and Precademy, we have signed up to participate in this parade to show off our students and the work we do here at IES.

HUGE THANKS to Ms. Renee for coordinating this adventure for us! She is looking for volunteers available on May 12th starting at about 1 pm to line up for the parade and we should be done by 3 pm – ish.

Please note…Per Tulip Time Parade Official Rules, all adults marching in the parade do need to be in dutch costume. If you don’t own one, you can check out one for free from the city as long as you reserve by April 13th and pick-up on April 22.

Parents marching with us will need to have a volunteer background check on file or complete the one, below and also be in dutch costume. Students marching do not need a dutch costume (they may absolutely wear one if they have it!) instead, they will receive a t-shirt with our theme. Students in Young 5s and Kindergarten must have an adult accompany them if they are participating. Students in 1st grade and above may participate without an adult.

Please SIGN UP, HERE by APRIL 10TH if you or your child wish to participate.

OLD INFORMATION

WELCOME MS. DEB!

We would like to take a moment to make you aware of an exciting leadership addition for the ’22-’23 school year.

Mr. Bob has made the decision to transition back into an opportunity in higher education.  We certainly want to thank him for his work with our organization and we wish him the best.

We were very excited to hear that Deb Feenstra was available to take on a new role after this school year and moved quickly to let her know IES would be just the perfect place!  We were already familiar with Deb’s name because she is very highly regarded in both the public and private schools in our area.  It was evident immediately that she understands our mission as a school and would have the passion and gifts to lead us through this next season.

We’re very excited to have Deb share her skills and joy of learning with us, as we have really enjoyed getting to know her, and know you all will as well! While we will be hosting an opportunity for you to meet Ms. Deb as we get closer to the end of the school year, we’d love to introduce her to you via the little blurb she has written, below.

My name is Deb Feenstra and I can’t tell you what an honor it is to be chosen to serve as the next Executive Director of IES! I‘ve had the opportunity to serve as an educator in the Holland/Zeeland area for 35 years and I am excited to continue that journey as a member of the IES team. My educational philosophy is that each student is unique and our job as educators is to provide an innovative learning environment, in partnership with parents, that strives to meet students where they are and support them to reach their full potential academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Personally, I have been married to my amazing husband for 42 years and we have 2 daughters, a son-in-law, and 3 wonderful grandchildren who all live in the Zeeland area. My youngest daughter, the joy of our lives, has cognitive needs and is a dependent adult who has taught us to see every moment in life as a gift and a possibility.  As a family, we had the opportunity to serve as full-time mission staff in Chiapas, Mexico from 1999 to 2005 and we still spend part of every year there.  Our son-in-law is from Chiapas so we live a life that is bilingual and bicultural.  IES’s vision of “Innovative education that cultivates global leaders and thinkers and makes a positive impact” aligns perfectly with my life vision and I can’t wait to get started!
