Alishia is graduating from iCademy after an exciting high school career. In her four years here, she sought opportunities to expand her education in the areas she had interest in. For Alishia, this area is photography. Not only did iCademy provide her with the resources and support to take classes at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, but we also asked her to photograph the 2021 graduation and offered trips to broaden her world perspective.
Alishia remembers her teachers as the highlight of her time at iCademy. The supportive and judgment-free environment her teachers provided helped her raise her GPA and excel in academics. “Don’t stress,” Alishia suggests to new iCademy students, “the teachers will help you every step of the way. Lean on them, and if you want something you think will enhance your experience, they will try and make it happen.” Alishia’s counselor, Ms. Laura, helped her to take classes for college credit when she reached out.
iCademy’s flexibility allowed her to pursue her various passions such as acting and photography while providing the time to make friends during iCademy meet-ups and trips. Alishia feels like she got the chance to, “explore the world.” She says that iCademy helped her mature and consistently reach out of her comfort zone.
When asked if she would recommend iCademy to other students considering a remote school, Alishia said, “100% yes! I love it here and I will be sad to leave.”
