iCademy Global in Zeeland celebrated the graduation of the class of 2016 on Thursday, June 9.

“iCademy allowed us to move at our own pace, which helped us get done with senior year faster,” 2016 graduate Allison Haltenhoff said.

The class of 14 students is the third graduating class for school, which began in the fall of 2012. The K-12 cyber charter school allows students to fulfill their studies remotely, though there are also opportunities for onsite learning like direct instruction, small group collaborative learning and project based learning at the campus located at 8485 Homestead Drive in Zeeland.

“It’s so important to not only know about your students, academically, but also be engaged in what is happening in other areas of their lives,” Mentor and social studies teacher Tyler Huizenga said. “What makes up the whole student? We work hard to build relationships with our students and provide opportunities for them to socialize with other students and teachers in safe environments online as well as live and in person, if they choose.”
