While some may worry that virtual school would make them feel disconnected from their friends, Everett’s experience has been quite the opposite. Having been homeschooled for most of his life, attending virtual school through iCademy has offered a greater sense of community and made it easier to make friends with similar interests.
He also greatly appreciates the support he’s received from our teachers. “All the teachers have been available for help when I needed it, and have been a valuable resource when I have questions about course material,” he said, noting that they’re understanding about the occasional late work and are always eager to help.
After finishing his freshman year at iCademy, he advises other iCademy students not to overwork themselves: “The iCademy schedule is really flexible. If you need to take a break for a few hours you can finish whatever you have left later in the day.” He recommends working ahead when possible, generally trying to finish his day’s school work before lunch to free up the rest of his day.
