Project Night Lights – Join Us On Wednesday!

Please consider joining iCademy students, families, and staff next Wednesday night, November 10th at 8:15pm at Helen DeVos Children’s hospital!

We are going to join the GRPD, GRFD, doctors, nurses, and community members as they say “Good Night” to all of the kiddos in the hospital by flashing their flashlights from the ground up to the kids’ rooms. For kiddos spending a little or a lot of time at the hospital, this event is something they really look forward to each month!

PROJECT NIGHT LIGHTS happens at 8:30pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Please show up around 8-8:15pm to help us chalk the sidewalk and create signs for the kiddos. Don’t forget to dress WARM and bring your flashlight and/or glowsticks. Feel free to bring your own signs as well!

iCademy will be meeting on the sidewalk (see attached map) in front of the Van Andel Institute (there is some on-street parking as well). 333 Bostwick Avenue, Grand Rapids is the address. Just to the north of Crescent Park and directly to the west of the hospital.

So we know who to watch for, please SIGN UP HERE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND.

Calling all iCademy Families – Grand Rapids Public Museum Field Trip – Friday, November 12th!

On Friday, November 12th we are excited to be heading to the Grand Rapids Public Museum to participate in their annual “Anishinabe Cultural Day”. The event is free, but if students want to purchase lunch onsite at the Museum Cafe’, they will need to bring money with them. We will leave from Homestead Campus promptly at 10 AM, and will return at 2 PM.

We will be learning first-hand about Native American regalia, dance, and music, as well as the the rich history of local Native American cultures. We will be witness to authentic dancing and drumming sessions along with traditional story-telling, demonstrations, and interactive stations hosted by Native American Community organizations including pottery, basket, bowl making, and corn husk dolls. We will also experience the Museum’s exhibits, Anishinabek: The People of this Place. This exhibition highlights the Odawa, Potawatomi and Ojibwe people of West Michigan and provides an understanding of the Native American culture through rare artifacts and displays.

Stewardship Opportunities – How Can You Help?

We are excited to consider ways we can be good stewards of our time and talents, here at iCademy Global!

For this month, please consider joining us at Project Night Lights Wednesday, November 10th at 8:30. Watch for a sign up coming out this week!

If Wednesday night doesn’t work for your family, consider one of the following ways to care for others during the remainder of the semester.

These ideas appeal to shoppers, gift-givers, smile spreaders, artists, hard workers, and more. We would love to hear about the ways you choose to help others in your community.
